    Intinerary

    Day 1

    08:30   Departure from Mashaquipe office in Rurrenabaque – 3-hour boat trip with spectacular view of Beni and Tuichi rivers to enter Madidi National Park – view of impressive landscape of Bala Canyon – visit to Villa Alcira: originarian community, to learn about their way of life and experience sugarcane pressing11:30   Arrival at “Mashaquipe” Ecolodge– welcome drink of natural local fruit juice – accommodation in lodges

    12:30   Lunch – local foods and traditional dishes – short rest

    14:30   Walk along “Dry Creek” Trail – view of a variety of plants to learn about their many uses for traditional medicine, crafts and construction materials – view if some species of monkeys, peccaries, birds and many insects (all subject to season availability)

    19:30   Dinner at Lodge

    21:00   Night walk with great possibilities of sighting nocturnal animals like tarantulas, snakes, monkeys and insects. (optional activity)

    22:00   Return to “Mashaquipe Ecolodge” for night rest

     

    Día 2

    07:30   Breakfast at the lodge – with typical local beverages, fruits and pastries

    09:00   Departure on trail to “Arenalito” refuge for a night campout in the jungle – All camping equipment will be provided at lodge. Approximate 3-hour walk. Impressive landscape view of the amazon jungle and rivers from high view points along the trail.

    12:30   Lunch at refuge, cooked on wood-fire – short rest

    14:30   Walk on trail around refuge and then to “Caquiahuara macaw Cliff” – view of parabas in natural nesting habitat. On arrival at refuge, walk to high lookout to see impressive sunset landscape of Amazon jungle and rivers

    19:00   Dinner – cooked on wood-fire

    20:00   Night walk with great possibilities of sighting nocturnal animals like armadillos, snakes, tapir, monkeys and birds. Great chance to hear the roar of the jaguar.

    22:00   Return to refuge for night rest

    Day 3

    06:00   Early rise – walk to refuge high lookout to see impressive sunrise landscape of Amazon jungle and rivers and hear the sound of howler monkeys and birds greeting the new day

    07:30   Breakfast

    08:00   Walk to Tuichi River to experience building a log raft “Callapo”: rustic transportation of the indigenous people of the Amazon, and travel downriver on raft back to “Mashaquipe” Lodge. Camping equipment and back packs will be transported on motorboat which will be available for tourists that may not wish to travel on log-raft

    12:30   Lunch at Lodge

    13:30   Return to Rurrenabaque – 1 ½ hour boat trip
